Joseph Kosuth will be presenting his public projects over the last two
decades.
Joseph Kosuth is one of the pioneers of Conceptual and Installation art,
initiating language based works and appropriation strategies in the
1960s. His investigations into the relationship between art and
language, conducted over a period of more than 40 years, have taken the
form of installations, museum exhibitions, public commissions and
publications throughout Europe, America and Asia, including his
participation in five editions of documenta in Kassel and four editions
of the Venice Biennial. He has received the Brandeis Award (1990),
Frederick R. Weisman Award (1991), Menzione d'Onore at the Venice
Biennial (1993), and the distinction of the Chevalier de l'Ordre des
Arts et des Lettres (1993). In 2001, he was awarded an Honorary Degree
in Philosophy and Letters by the Universita di Bolognia, and in 2003,
the Decoration of Honour in gold for services to the Republic of
Austria.

Joseph Kosuth is artist in residence at Randolph Cliff, supported by the
Edinburgh College of Art and the National Galleries of Scotland.
